Nritya Gurukul

To disseminate my learning we established ‘Kalaboti Mudra’ a Trust and a Gurukul to promote Sattriya in Bengal with active & moral support from Government of Assam. Apart from teaching Sattriya dance ‘Kalaboti Mudra’ is now facilitating Bahratnatyam, various folk, tribal and modern dances in its curriculum. I am now facilitating a core group of young artists to perform authentic dance skills.

Learning Curve

Obtaining my scholarship from Government of Assam to study fine arts in Kolkata, I came to the Mecca of performing arts, and inducted into Rabindra Bharati University and earned MA in Bharatnatyam, Kalakshetra Style. From my University days I began to learn Bharatnatyam from Guru Khagendra Nath Barman .
In the year of 1995 I was nominated to get Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Government of India to study Sattriya Dance Style. From those days she is learning Sattriya from Guru Ramkrishna Talukder, Guwahati.
Later I was admitted into the doctoral fellowship to study Sattriya, Ojapali and Nati Dance style of Assam under Dr. Shruti Bandopadhaya, Professor of Dance, Rabindra Bharati University and awarded Ph.D.
Seeing my positive intention to promote Sattriya outside Assam, Government of India gave her a Scholarship to stage Sattriya as well as Deodhani Dance recital at Kolkata.
